"Voyage of the Forgotten Crew"

I recently had a lot of commissions to work on all within a short amount of time and when they all reached completion I was faced with a terrible amount of artistic burn out and lack of inspiration that I found to be rather depressing. I went online and did some research on techniques that other professional artists use in order to combat burn out. What I found was an interesting meditative technique called "Automatic Drawing" which was used by one of my favorite artists of all time, Moebius(Jean Giraud) in order to keep the creative wheels well oiled and turning. I tried this technique on several occasions and found that along with providing inspiration it also calms and centers the mind which is incredibly useful for anyone. So with a lack of inspiration I went back and looked through my automatic drawing sessions and as I was looking through the chaos of the meditation, I found a small doodle that I gave an excellent idea. This new drawing called "Voyage of the Forgotten Crew" was based on a very tiny doodle. I expanded upon it and created an entire scene and then inked it and colored it using Procreate on my Ipad. You can see the picture below, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out and I will be sure to use automatic drawing for future drawings when I feel like I have no inspiration.
