New Art!
Hey everyone, just got back from the beach, while I was there I did some ocean themed art that I'll be uploading over the next few days. I just finished "Octopus" the other day, it was bigger than the usual non-commission pieces I've been doing recently. I tried a new technique of really getting some deep saturation on the watercolor in order to get a more opaque and even base color for the octopus itself. normally I would color it in with colored pencils if I wanted to get a deep saturation but I tried something different this time. I also tried experiementing with a big for a visual hierarchy, making the background less opaque and detailed and the closer background items a bit more detailed with some light line work. Of course for the octopus, being the main focus of the piece, I used heavier line work with brighter colors and some gel pen and colored pencil to brighten the highlight areas where the source light was shining from at the top. I'm very happy with how this piece came out, the original is now on sale in the shop and there will be prints available soon as well!
